PWHL San Jose signed forwards Lily Shannon and Mckenna Van Gelder to two-year agreements, the team announced Sept. 23. Both contracts run through the 2027–28 season. The signings added two inaugural draft picks to the team’s contracted group.
The agreements and player backgrounds
Shannon was selected 40th overall in the fourth round of the 2026 PWHL Draft. She recorded 92 points across 144 games at Northeastern. Her final college season produced 19 goals and 24 assists.
Van Gelder was selected 52nd overall in the fifth round. She recorded 86 points in 134 games at Cornell. The signings brought San Jose’s contracted roster to 18 players at the time of the announcement.
CSB Take
The agreements give San Jose continuity as it builds its first roster. Both forwards arrive with substantial collegiate experience. Their next challenge is turning that production into useful roles at the professional level.
