Sacramento River Cats’ Turner Hill Named Pacific Coast League Player of the Month for July

Sacramento River Cats outfielder Turner Hill earned Pacific Coast League Player of the Month honors for July with a .422 average and a 20-game hitting streak, ranking among league leaders and marking one of the longest streaks in franchise history.

Turner Hill, outfielder for the Sacramento River Cats, was named the Pacific Coast League Player of the Month for July, Minor League Baseball announced on August 5, 2026. Hill earned the honor after an outstanding performance during the month, posting a .422 batting average.

Hill led the Pacific Coast League in batting average (.422), hits (38), and triples (3) in July. He ranked second in total bases with 55 and on-base percentage at .490. Additionally, he was fourth in OPS with 1.101 and fifth in runs scored with 19. Hill demonstrated strong plate discipline, walking 10 times and striking out just eight times during the month.

He recorded 14 multi-hit games throughout July and finished the month on a 17-game hitting streak. As of August 4, that streak extended to 20 games, the longest of his career and the fourth longest in the Pacific Coast League for 2026. This hitting streak also ranks as the third-longest single-season streak in Sacramento River Cats franchise history, trailing Daric Barton’s 24-game streak in 2007 and Nick Buss’s 22-game streak in 2014.

Hill’s consistent hitting is evident in his .343 batting average for the season, ranking second among all qualified Triple-A batters as of early August 2026. Signed by the San Francisco Giants as a free agent out of Marietta College in Ohio on May 12, 2023, Hill has become a key contributor for the River Cats.

CSB Take

Turner Hill’s recognition as the Pacific Coast League Player of the Month highlights his emergence as a significant talent in Triple-A baseball. His dominant July performance, including a standout hitting streak, demonstrates his readiness for higher competition levels. For the Sacramento River Cats, Hill’s consistency strengthens the team’s offensive presence and provides San Francisco Giants with a promising prospect to watch as the season progresses.
